With a letter dated January 15, 1982 addressed to "Dear Fly Tyer" from the publisher (Dick Surette) laid in apologizing for a slow-down in production on the book and a request that the recipient aid in its sale by showing it to fellow fly tyers.
A comprehensive treatment of pattern details for hair-wing Atlantic salmon flies, including techniques for converting classic salmon flies and basic trout wet flies into effective hair-wings. The authors have paid particular attention to interchangeable positions that tips, butts, and throat hackles can occupy in the pattern makeup, stressed flexibility in the use of materials, and detailed the proper method of securing them to the hook shank.
