In an earlier book, published in 1937, Littleton wrote of his life as a schoolmaster and naturalist and gave his recollections of early family life at Montacute in Somerset. The present volume tells of his life with his second wife, novelist Elizabeth Myers, who letters to him before their marriage are published here for the first time. He also writes of the Powys family, natural history and its importance in education, the Wessex countryside, and his travels.
