King Solomon's Mines

London: Cassell and Company, Ltd., 1912.
Illustrated by A. C. Michael. First Edition Thus. Hardcover.

First Edition A.C. Michael illustrated Edition. "Presentation Copy" blind stamped to title page.

First published in 1885, Allan Quatermain leads a party searching for Sir Henry Curtis’s brother who has disappeared while hunting for the storied King Solomon’s Mines. Haggard’s Note to the New Edition: “Once more I have been called upon to revise ‘King Solomon’s Mine,’ for this new and fine edition. As I never intend to go through the book again I take this opportunity, now that it has passed into the hands of a new generation, for the third time to thank its multitudinous readers for their continued appreciation of my tale. In closing these proof sheets also a kind of wonder takes me. Allan Quatermain has gone, but are Sir Henry Curtis and Captain Good really dead? Will they not perhaps some day break south from their dim Zu-Vendis, grasp their old friend Ignosi by the hand, and even revisit Solomon’s Treasure Cave and look upon poor Foulata’s bones?”
