Illustrated by Albert Morrow. First Edition. Hardcover.

First Edition.  Presentation copy, signed by the author to E(dward) Coleman Rashleigh and dated 12 Janry 1921 in St. Leonards on Lea. H. Rider Haggard had an extended correspondence about his work with Edward Rashleigh between 1905 and 1920. Rashleigh published an article in The English Review in January 1920 (Vol. XXX, p.45) entitled The Romance of Rider Haggard in which he extols Haggard’s message “that remains perdurable when boyhood is outgrown”: “That evil begets evil and good begets good; that ‘behind the night the royal sun rides on, ever the rainbow shines around the rain.” Among Haggard's papers at the Norfolk Record Office in Norwich is a letter to Rashleigh dated 3 Janry 1921 thanking Rashleigh for praises expressed in an article about Haggard's work and seeking to explain She & Allan (1921) and the relationship between the two characters, and to correct Rashleigh on his misunderstanding of the character of She. Rashleigh would later author Among the Waterfalls of the World  first published in 1935.

In this sequel to The Ivory Child, Allan Quatermain and Lady Ragnall take a fictional drug that enables them to re-experience past lives.
