The final volume in a three-volume history of British battleships first published in 1993. In this volume, the author examines the evolution of the battleship classes through all their modifications and refits from 1919 through 1945. As well as detailing design features, armor, machinery and power plants and weaponry, he also examines performance of the ships in battle and analyzes their successes and failures. In addition to covering all of the Royal Navy’s battleships and battlecruisers of the era, he also describes the aircraft carrier conversions of the First World War battlecruisers Furious, Glorious and Courageous. Includes tabular detail and an extensive collection of photographs and line drawings. This new edition includes some seventy new photographs and has been completely redesigned to incorporate the new images.
