New York City: The Morgan Library & Museum, 2014.
Hardcover.
Exhibition catalogue of the work of Theodore Rousseau (1812-1867) held at the Morgan Library and Museum September 26, 2014 - January 25, 2015. The sixty drawings and oil sketches included in the exhibition trace the artist's development. The leading figure in the Barbizon School, Rousseau's iconic landscapes and forest scenes were influenced by 17th century Dutch masters and contributed to the development of Impressionism. His work is taken from the rugged ancient landscape near Barbizon - the Forest of Fontainebleau - and remote climes in Normandy, Auvergne, the Jura, Berry and Franche-Comte.
