A letter from geologist and explorer Clarence King to his good friend "Don Horacio" (Horace F. Cutter, "The Bachelor of San Francisco"). Cutter was a great fan of Cervantes and in this letter, King relates his quest in procuring a barber’s basin for him in La Mancha, Spain, like that thought by Don Quixote to be the enchanted helmet of fictional Moorish king Mambrino. The letter was first published in The Century Magazine (May 1886).
