Presentation "To ---" Signed by Mark Becker (son of the author and grandson of Irma Rombauer) on first free endpaper. With a brief afterword by Ethan and Mark Becker and a tribute by Cecily Brownstone.

Marion Rombauer Becker’s reminiscences and a history of the evolution of her mother Irma Rombauer’s classic cookbook The Joy of Cooking. When Irma Rombauer died in 1962, Marion took over the task of updating the cookbook. Her last edition of the Joy of Cooking was the 6th edition, published in 1975, just a year before her own death in 1976. The 6th Edition remains the most popular version with over 6 million copies sold.

The first issue of the present work was entitled Little Acorn: The Story Behind the Joy of Cooking, 1931-1966 and was first published in 1966. The present reissue was published to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the cookbook. Marion had intended to bring Little Acorn up to date, but after her death, her sons reissued it with a brief afterword.
