Fine press edition of a story which first appeared in the Fall 1997 issue of The Georgia Review and was later published in Lopez's collection Light Action in the Caribbean. In the story, a 13-year-old boy finds a set of sensual love letters written in Castilian Spanish in his father's desk. He secretly makes copies of them and reads them with pleasure for many years until his father falls ill. He learns then that his father knows that he has secretly copied them and that he will be their heir. He is shocked to find that the letters were passed between a young man and young woman in 17th century Peru who were later canonized as saints. Later, as an academic, he finds another stack of letters clearly between the same lovers and makes peace with their transgressions and his own.
