Santa Barbara: Capricorn Press, 1972.
Limited Edition. Hardcover.
#205 of a Limited Edition of 250 copies designed & printed by Noel Young, Santa Barbara, January 1972. Signed by the poet Brother Antoninus. Title page blocks cut by Graham Mackintosh. Printed on Curtis Rag from Trump Mediaeval type and handbound by Earle Gray. Endsheets printed from acrylic patterns using water-based inks.
Brother Antonius adds his poetic voice to those who have written about the Virgin Mary – “trusting the aesthetic intuition to fuse, in faith, the elements so long ambient in the figure of the Virgin, emphasizing the instinctual urgency our age so values, yet not departing from the theological specification the Marian dogmas enforce.” He has endeavored to endow her with “a more instinctual element that is generally accorded her, but which her universality requires.”
