A collection of 20 double-page full color prints of fishes produced by Ando Hiroshige (1797-1858) representing “the seasonal joy that visits every kitchen door.” The works were originally published in 1832-1833 with the cooperation of Kyokashi, a guild of poets who wrote short light verses to accompany the prints (most of these poems appear at the end of the book).

7-5/8 x 10-5/8”, red linen covered boards with title label front board, unpaginated, introduction, 20 double page plates printed on continuous sheet folded accordion style, followed by section describing “The Fishes, the Seasons, and the Poems.”
A bright, crisp copy, very fine in near fine original cardboard slipcase with some rubbing and two small labels removed (spine & rear panel) leaving a roughened rectangle behind.
