The fully illustrated life story of William Boyd and his alter ego Hopalong Cassidy, a Western hero based on the fictional character introduced by Clarence Mulford in 1905. Hopalong was featured in sixty-six films from 1935-1948, followed by fifty-two television and radio shows in the early 1950s. Hoppie became an iconic media hero for kids and exemplified the virtues of justice, common sense and fair play.

9-1/2 x 12-5/8 x 1-1/2", full black embossed leather, raised spine bands, silver titles, turquoise, white and silver detailing, and sepia-toned photograph pasted-on front board, photographic endpapers, all edges of text block silver, ribbon marker laid in, 368pp, filmography, sources, coda, fully illustrated throughout. Design of the genuine leather-bound cover created by Arizona leather artist Jim Lockwood is based on the unique carving pattern of William Boyd's famous Hopalong Cassidy gun belt. The sterling silver heart decoration inset on the back cover was cast from a mold of one of the original silver hearts centered on each of the signature gun belt's holsters. The book is housed in a clamshell case with a photograph of Hopalong Cassidy on front board and another framed on verso front board.
