Boulton Soho Manufactory in Birmingham was the largest global industrial complex of its day. Boulton and Watt became partners in 1775 and built steam engines for use in a broad array of evolving applications. In 1786, Boulton won his first government coin contract and had eight presses operating at the first mechanized mint by 1789 which revolutionized the look, legitimacy, and availability of coinage.
Item #9022119-3/8 x 12-3/8", quarter black cloth, blue cloth over boards, 13pp text, 7 full-page plates with 30 medals pictured, includes a biographical sketch, a list of medallists, sculptors, designers and publishers, and a bibliography.
Staining and rubbing to cloth, toning to leaves, good overall, internally a very good tight copy, free of owner's marks.
