A tribute to French astronomer, scholar and antiquary Nicolas Claude Fabri de Peiresc (1580-1637) by his protégé Pierre Gassendi (1592-1655). Gassendi penned a contemporary biography of Peiresc after his death in 1637 entitled The Mirrour of True Nobility & Gentility, being the life of the renowned Nicolaus Claudius Fabricius Lord of Peiresk.
