First Edition, First Impression with "First American Edition" on the title page, in first state dust wrapper with original price of $2.00 intact and with 9 titles on rear dust wrapper panel (Gallup A44). The first collected edition of the poems Burnt Norton, East Coker, The Dry Salvages, and Little Gidding. A series of four poems with interconnected religious, philosophical and personal themes that Eliot himself considered to be his best work.

There were 4,165 copies of the first impression, but because margins of many pages were incorrect, only 788 copies of this first impression were distributed, the remaining 3,377 copies were destroyed. The second impression of 3,500 replacement copies does NOT carry the edition notice on the verso of the title-page.
