Twelve copies of Hand & Soul with a wood engraving by Ilya Schor were printed by Theodore Organ & Saul Marks (instructor) in Aldine Bembo types on an Albion handpress at the Press of the Department of Fine Arts University of Southern California, Los Angeles during the semesters of 1962-63.

The present copy is #19 of twenty numbered copies with an additional wood engraving by Ilya Schor, printed by Theodore Organ and Saul Marks on the Plantin Press Albion, July 1971. Signed by Saul Marks on the colophon. With a fine binding by Rene Patron & Sylvain De La Mauviniere.

A short narrative by Dante Gabriel Rossetti written in 1842 featuring a 13th century Italian artist’s journey through the realms of art and spirituality.

5-3/8 x 8", quarter green morocco with red spine label and gilt titles and decoration, marbled paper over boards, deckled fore and bottom-edges, 40pp, wood engravings on title page and as a header in text.

Dot of stain first text page, faint off-setting to endpapers and top-edge where they meet the leather spine, tight, crisp, square, bookbinder's label tipped to rear paste-down endpaper at hinge, fine in marbled paper covered slip-case with the tiniest of wear to extreme corners, a remarkably beautiful copy of a very rare Plantin Press edition.
