#17 of a Limited Edition of 50 numbered copies. Designed by Terri Warpinski, Sandy Tilcock and Natalie Sudman. It was printed letterpress from polymer plates for the text and magnesium line engravings for the images on Rives BFK using a Vandercook 219 proofing press. Perpetua types were used for the text and Charlemagne for the title and initial. Sandy Tilcock of the lone goose press in Eugene, Oregon produced the edition which consists of fifty numbered and ten lettered copies.
Natalie Sudman ruminates on the lasting importance sagebrush and her sojourns to the Great Basin desert in its pursuit have in her life. "I am a little embarrassed to recognize in myself the superficiality of craving a blast from the friend that sagebrush has become to me over the years. If a blast is what I want there is plenty of opportunity within the strange community of humans I live in, or in the mountains that are nearly in my backyard. It is not why I come to the Great Basin desert, not for that kind of thrill. I come for a reminder of something more durable and subtle, something that any desert has always allowed me: contentment, perhaps. An overwhelming reminder that often those things that are, at first, the most difficult to love can come to be much more interesting and complex and curious than those things one falls for in an instant.”
