Allen Press Book #7. Limited edition of 200 copies. Selected, Edited and Newly Done Into English By Francis Carmody. The type face is Garamon, and the paper is all-rag Oxbow. It has been designed, printed and hand-illuminated by Lewis & Dorothy Allen at The L-D Allen Press. The decorations were drawn by Malette Dean, and the binding was executed by William Wheeler.
This was the first of six texts translated and edited for The Allen Press by Francis Carmody, professor of French at the University of California. This was the Allen's most ambitious project thus far.
Item #9024856-1/4 x 10-1/4", red French brocade over boards, gilt title, gilt top-edge, title page printed in red, violet & green, with 16 illuminated initials and 16 colored decorations, one at the head of each chapter.
Dulling to gilt spine title, a bit of staining to endpapers, mild toning to leaves, very good.
