Limited Edition. Hardcover.

Allen Press Book #48-49. Limited edition of one hundred forty sets. The type faces are Menhart Unciala for the text, and Solemnis for personae of the drama; both set by hand. The paper is all-rag, handmade especially for The Allen Press by the Richard de Bas Mill in France, established 1326, and carries the watermark of the press. The paper was printed damp on an Albion handpress made 1882 in Scotland. The binding cloth, a "flame" fabric made in France, was imported for this edition. Text printed in brown and "flame." Designed, printed, and bound by Lewis & Dorothy Allen at The Allen Press. Prospectus each volume laid in, two volumes housed in a single box.

With introduction by Mark Livingston. The translator for both volumes is E. D. A. Morshead. Aeschylus won his 13th first prize at the annual Dramatic Contest at Athens, 458 B.C. with his submission of The Oresteian Trilogy. From the printers on the prospectus for Volume II: It "is his masterpiece and considered one of the supreme productions in all literature. We are told (as of publication) that our two volumes are the only de luxe edition in English - and produced entirely by hand. Therefore we believe that it is one of our most significant productions."
