Charles P. Limbert Company: Cabinet Makers Grand Rapids, Michigan

Philmont, New York: Turn of the Century Editions, 1997.
Third Edition. Paperback.

Facsimile reproduction of catalogues of the distinctive Arts & Crafts furniture produced and designed by Charles P. Limbert at his factories in Grand Rapids and Holland, Michigan. His furniture was characterized by delicate arches and subtle curves, combined with bold rectilinearity and revealed joinery. This marriage of styles demonstrates that Limbert was influenced by other eminent designers of the period. Square cutouts appeared earlier in the furniture produced by Chares Rennie Mackintosh of the Glasgow school. And Gustav Stickley had achieved much acclaim with his own rectilinear design and exposed structural details.

Included are Charles P. Limbert Company Cabinet Makers Booklet No. 112 and No. 119. This revised edition includes the rare 1905 Limbert Catalogue that features inlay work and the earliest designs. Also included is a 1911 Supplement to Catalogue 14 that depicts seven extraordinary lamps, not seen in print before. A portion of an original Limbert catalogue that depicts some other exceptional forms is included in the rear section.
