The Russian title printed in Russian characters in a Lintoype matrice are used decoratively, in red, between page headings and text lines, for the title-page border, and on the cover paper. Union Pearl is the display type face. Printed on the Colts Armory press.
Based on information about Russian fur-trading and expansion of posts on the West coast of North America in a work by Russian navigator and scientist Otto von Kotzebue published in 1830, An Englishman exhorts his fellow countrymen to step forward and seize the Northwest of America before Russia is able to take it for themselves.
Item #9026076-5/8 x 10-1/8", French mould made Ingres gray paper over boards with white parchment-paper spine, titles in red, 80pp, deckled edges, red endpapers from the Fabriano mill, Italy, map, title in red and black.
Toning and staining to parchment paper on spine, internally clean and tight, very good in chipped original clear acetate dust wrapper.
